Parapharmaceutical product

Pharmacological group: Herbal medicinal product with antidepressant activity.
Tablet composition: Each tablet contains St. John’s wort herb extract as the active substance, with an anthracene content of 0.3 mg (calculated as hypericin).
Pharmacological action: The main biologically active substances contained in the St. John’s wort extract are hypericin, pseudohypericin, hyperforin and flavonoids, which improve the functioning of the central and autonomic nervous systems.
The medicinal product has anxiolytic and antidepressant effects: It improves the psycho-emotional state and mood, relieves apathy and depression, normalizes sleep, and increases mental and physical activity.
Indications: Used as an adjunct in complex therapy.
· Psychovegetative disorders (apathy, depressed mood);
· Neurotic reactions;
· Mild to moderate depressive states accompanied by anxiety (including those associated with menopausal syndrome).
Side effects:
Allergic reactions: skin rash, itching and eczema may occur;
CNS disorders: anxiety, headache, feeling of excessive fatigue;
Gastrointestinal disorders: nausea, abdominal pain (in the epigastric region);
Hematopoietic system disorders: iron-deficiency anemia.
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to any component of the medicinal product; severe depression; concomitant use of MAO antidepressant inhibitors; concomitant use of medicinal products affecting blood coagulation (warfarin and other indirect anticoagulants); children under 12 years of age (due to insufficient data); exposure to ultraviolet radiation (during treatment, direct exposure to sunlight should be avoided).
Method of administration: Adults and children over 12 years of age should take 1 tablet 2–3 times daily with meals.
The duration of treatment is 2–4 weeks (not exceeding 6 weeks). The optimal effect is achieved when the medicinal product is taken regularly, at the same time each day, for at least 4 weeks. If necessary, a repeat course may be administered after 2–3 weeks.
The tablet should be taken with a sufficient amount of water (without chewing).
If a dose is missed, the next dose should be taken according to the original dosing schedule; a double dose must not be taken.
Pregnancy and lactation: There are no reliable clinical data confirming the safety of using the medicinal product during pregnancy and lactation.
Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction: Concomitant administration reduces the efficacy of indirect anticoagulants (phenprocoumon, warfarin), midazolam, digoxin, amitriptyline, benzodiazepines, nortriptyline, theophylline and verapamil.
Concomitant administration with certain antidepressants, such as nefazodone, paroxetine, sertraline and triptans, may enhance their effects and cause symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, fear, anxiety and confusion.
The medicinal product enhances the photosensitizing effects of certain medicinal products, such as tetracyclines, sulfonamides, thiazide diuretics, quinolones and piroxicam.
It prolongs sleep induced by general anesthetics and narcotic analgesics, while shortening sleep induced by barbiturates. It reduces the hypotensive effect of reserpine and increases the rate of theophylline metabolism.
Effect of the medicinal product on the ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery: Patients taking this medicinal product should exercise caution when working with machinery that requires concentration.
Presentation:
Primary packaging: 10 tablets in a PVC/Alu blister.
Secondary packaging: 4 blisters in a cardboard box together with the instructions for use.
Shelf life: 3 years.
The medicinal product must not be used after the expiry date or if any defect is detected during visual inspection.
Storage conditions: Store in a dry place, protected from light and inaccessible to children, at a temperature not exceeding 25⁰C.
Dispensing conditions: Pharmaceutical product Group III, available without a prescription.
