Dosage form: Capsules.

Composition: Active substances: iron (II) sulfate – equivalent to 50 mg of iron; folic acid – 1 mg; ascorbic acid – 50 mg; dry extract of Aloe – 50 mg;

Excipient: Aerosil.

Dry aloe extract contains a complex of biologically active substances: anthracene derivatives (aloe-emodin, aloin, aloinoside), bitter glycosides, vitamins, enzymes, organic acids, and polysaccharides.

Pharmacological action:

Iron(II) sulfate:

• Iron is a structural element of heme;
• It is essential for hemoglobin synthesis;
• It is a component of myoglobin and a number of enzymes;
• It is deposited in the body..

Ascorbic acid:

• It brings about the reduction of trivalent iron to divalent iron ions;
• Improves iron absorption from food;
• Regulates capillary permeability.;
• Promotes collagen and procollagen synthesis;
• It plays an important role in redox processes;

Folic acid:

• It is essential for the normal maturation of megaloblasts and the formation of normoblasts; it stimulates erythropoiesis.
• It participates in the synthesis of amino acids and in the metabolism of nucleic acids, purines, pyrimidines, and choline.
• It protects the body from teratogenic factors during pregnancy.

Dry aloe extract:

• Contains biogenic stimulators;
• Strengthens the body's resistance to infectious diseases;
• It enhances the regenerative processes of the skin and mucous membranes.

Usage recommendation: Used in combination therapy as an adjuvant:

• Increased iron requirements (pre-pubertal and pubertal age, lactation period);
• Dietary iron and vitamin deficiency.

Contraindication

• Anemias of other etiology;
• Hemosiderosis, hemochromatosis;
• Crohn's disease, ulcerative enterocolitis;
• Liver cirrhosis, chronic pancreatitis;
• Diffuse glomerulonephritis;

Side effects: Anorexia, nausea, diarrhea, tachycardia, skin rash. Blood pressure monitoring is required.

Administration and dosage: Orally.

Adults: 1–2 capsules 3 times daily after meals.

For children aged 4–7 years: one capsule twice daily after meals;

In children aged 7 to 14 years: one capsule 3 times daily after meals;

In children aged 14 to 16: one capsule 4 times a day after meals.

The duration of the treatment course is 8–12 weeks.

Missed dose: If a dose is missed, do not take a double dose. The next dose should be taken according to the original schedule.

Pregnancy and lactation: Alofer capsules are prescribed during pregnancy and lactation when iron deficiency is diagnosed.

Interaction with other medicinal products or other forms of interaction: The risk of developing potassium deficiency increases when used concomitantly with thiazide diuretics, liquorice preparations, and corticosteroids.

Concomitant administration with tetracycline-group antibiotics, penicillamines, and antacids should be avoided, as iron absorption is reduced.

Effects on drivers and personnel operating potentially hazardous machinery: Taking the medication does not affect the ability to concentrate or operate machinery.

Caution: Prolonged use of the preparation may lead to potassium depletion and potentiate the effects of cardiac glycosides and antiarrhythmic drugs.

Overdose: Symptoms of overdose include: weakness, fatigue, paresthesia, pallor, hypotension, abdominal pain, clouding of consciousness, bloody diarrhea, vomiting, and cyanosis.

Treatment: Gastric lavage, administration of milk and raw eggs. For specific treatment, deferoxamine is administered orally and parenterally. In cases of acute poisoning, when iron has not yet been adsorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, 5–10 g of deferoxamine is administered (the contents of 10–20 ampoules are dissolved in water). To chelate the absorbed iron, deferoxamine is administered slowly intramuscularly: in children – 15 mg/hour; in adults – 5 mg/kg/hour (up to 80 mg/kg/day). In mild poisoning, 1 g is administered intramuscularly every 4–6 hours in children; in adolescents – 50 mg/kg (up to 4 g/day).

Dosage form: 10 capsules in a PVC/Alu blister. 2 blisters in a cardboard box.

Shelf life: 2 years.
