Peppermint tincture 25 ml

Composition (per 25 mL):
Peppermint leaves – 1.25 g;
Peppermint oil – 1.25 g;
Ethyl alcohol 90% – q.s. to obtain 25 mL of tincture.
Contains biologically active substances: essential oils (the main component being menthol – 60%, menthene – 10–25%), oleic and ursolic acids, flavonoids, carotene.

Pharmacological action:
Has sedative, antispasmodic, analgesic, antiseptic, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects. Reflexively dilates the blood vessels of the brain and heart. Reduces the tone of intestinal smooth muscles, has a choleretic effect, enhances capillary blood supply and intestinal peristalsis by stimulating peripheral neuroreceptors of the intestinal mucosa, stimulates secretion of the digestive tract glands, reduces dyspeptic symptoms, has an antiemetic effect and improves appetite.
It is effective when administered by inhalation in inflammatory processes of the upper respiratory tract; it has expectorant and mucolytic effects and promotes restoration of the function of the ciliated epithelium of the upper respiratory tract.

Indications:
• Diseases associated with inflammatory processes of the gastrointestinal tract;
• Spastic conditions of neurogenic origin of the gastrointestinal tract;
• Flatulence;
• Cholecystitis, cholangitis;
• Vomiting, nausea;
• Inflammatory processes of the upper respiratory tract (pharyngitis, laryngitis, tracheitis).

Method of administration and dosage: Administered orally at a dose of 10–15 drops 3–4 times daily after meals (the drops should be diluted in 1/4 glass of water).

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to any of the components of the medicinal product.

Side effects: Inhalation use in children is contraindicated, as exposure to menthol may cause bronchospasm and reflex respiratory depression.

Effects on the ability to drive and operate machinery: Caution should be exercised when driving vehicles or operating machinery during treatment, as the medicinal product may affect the ability to concentrate and react quickly.

Overdose: Prolonged use at high doses may result in a reduced speed of psychomotor reactions.

Missed dose: If a dose is missed, the next dose should be taken according to the original dosing schedule.

Interaction with other medicinal products: Not studied.

Use in paediatrics: Not recommended (contains ethyl alcohol).

Packaging: 25 mL of tincture in dark orange glass or polymer bottles equipped with a dropper and screw cap.

Shelf life: 3 years.

The medicinal product must not be used after the expiry date or if any defects are detected during visual inspection.

Storage: Store at room temperature, protected from light.
