Gel composition:
Active substances: Horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum) extract – 2 g (containing 20% escin); Sweet clover (Melilotus officinalis) extract – 0.04 g; Asiatic centella (Centella asiatica) extract – 0.04 g.
Excipients: Dimexide, sodium benzoate, carbomer, peppermint oil, menthol, glycerol, propylene glycol, distilled water.
Pharmacological properties: The pharmacological efficacy of “Venolgel” is determined by the combination of three extracts contained in its composition, which complement and enhance each other’s effects and provide a complex: venotonic, angioprotective, anti-edematous and analgesic effect.
The pharmacological action of horse chestnut extract is associated with its content of the biologically active substance escin, which has a pronounced venotonic effect. Horse chestnut extract increases venous vascular tone and improves venous blood circulation. At the same time, it reduces capillary wall permeability, improves microcirculation and has a pronounced anti-inflammatory effect. Esculin stimulates the antithrombotic activity of blood serum and increases antithrombin production in the reticuloendothelial system of blood vessels. Escin reduces blood viscosity. Horse chestnut extract slows down the blood coagulation process.
The pharmacological action of sweet clover extract is associated with its content of biologically active substances: coumarins (0.4–0.9%), coumaric acid, dicoumarol, melilotin and essential oils. When applied externally, sweet clover extract has anticoagulant, anticonvulsant, venoprotective and analgesic effects.
Asiatic centella extract has an angioprotective effect and significantly improves microcirculation and capillary tone; it also has antiexudative activity and reduces capillary permeability. Reduced vascular permeability prevents the passage of protein molecules, electrolytes and water into the surrounding tissues, thereby reducing the symptoms of venous insufficiency: edema of the lower extremities, a feeling of heaviness, pain and itching. It improves the trophism of connective tissue and helps maintain its integrity by improving venous elasticity. Asiatic centella stimulates the proteolytic activity of macrophage enzymes, thereby eliminating the main cause of edema associated with venous insufficiency.
Indications:
• Chronic venous insufficiency of the lower extremities;
• Heaviness in the legs, pain, nocturnal cramps, trophic disorders;
• Hemorrhoids, postoperative prevention of hemorrhoids, prevention of hemorrhoid recurrence, prevention of hemorrhoids in cases of constipation;
• Postoperative edema;
• Post-mastectomy edema.
Contraindications: Individual intolerance to any of the components of the medicinal product, pregnancy, lactation, concomitant use of anticoagulants.
Side effects: The medicinal product is generally well tolerated. Allergic reactions may rarely occur.
Method of administration and dosage: For external use. Apply the gel to the affected area and rub into the skin 2–3 times daily. Use of the gel is recommended for at least 2–3 months.
Interaction with other medicinal products: Concomitant use with anticoagulants is not recommended.
Overdose: No data are available.
Effects on the ability to drive and operate machinery: Use of the medicinal product does not affect the ability to drive vehicles or operate machinery.
Storage conditions: Store at a temperature not exceeding 25°C, protected from light and out of the reach of children.
